San Diego Attorney Insight: How Personal Responsibility Prevents Legal Disputes
The world can be painful, difficult, and troublesome. Lately, it seems like this dark feeling is truer than ever and the world can be confusing. We hope and pray for those suffering from war, famine, corruption, trafficking, slavery, and other atrocities. While it often feels like we are helpless and can do little to change things, seemingly insignificant and small things can make major differences. Two things you can do to help the world be a better place are to be nice, which costs nothing, and to take responsibility for your actions. At times, it appears that most attorneys have jobs and stay busy because no one wants to take responsibility for their actions.
That is unfortunate.
Whether it’s a slumlord that won’t repair maintenance requests and provides housing that is in violation of multiple fire codes, making residence hazardous and dangerous, a negligent landscaper or contractor operating without licenses or permits, or a deadbeat collection agency harassing individuals without verifying debt, you are going to have to pay the piper at some point. Have some empathy and compassion, and try to see the situation from the other side of the dispute . . . that may help avoid costly and timely disputes and litigation. Please, take responsibility for your actions, no matter how large or small they are. Help make the world a better place, not worse.
